MSDict Viewer (version 4.1, 5.1, 7.02) and Related Dictionaries for Symbian Phones (S60v2, 3, 5 and Belle)

Mobile System’s MSDict viewer (and associated dictionaries) is a must-have tool for every smartphone user (Especially students, teachers, doctors and other professionals). Here is collection of some MSDict dictionaries that you can download and use in your Symbian S60 phone. First download and install MSDict Viewer (according to your phone OS version) from here:

1. MSDict Viewer v4.1 for Symbian OS v7 & 8 (S60v2) phones like Nokia 6680, N72, N70 etc

2. MSDict Viewer v4.1 for Symbian OS v9.1 (S60v3) phones like Nokia N73, N80, N92 etc.

3. MSDict Viewer v5.1 for Symbian OS v9.1 onwards (S60v3, v5 and Symbian^3/Belle phones) – Recommended

4. MSDict Viewer v7.02 for Symbian OS v9.x onwards (S60v3 and S60v5 and Symbian^3/Belle) phones like Nokia N73, N8x, N95, N96, Nokia 808, 701, 603, 500, 5800, N97, 5230, N8, C7 etc

Now download this file (archive) that contains following dictionaries (.pdb files)

Oxford Concise Medical Dictionary
Oxford dictionary of idioms and dictionary of irregular verbs
Pocket Oxford English dictionary
Dictionary of English Phrases
Concise Oxford English dictionary and Thesaurus
Dictionary of English Synonyms
Oxford Business Dictionary
Collin’s English Dictionary for S60v3 (Next best dictionary after AED)

Extract the .pdb files from downloaded archive and follow the steps given below

Placing pdb files in phone – (in case of version 4.10 and 5.1), create a folder named Documents in the root of your phone’s memory card. In this “Documents” folder, create another folder named MSDict. Place all the downloaded .pdb files into the folder “MSDict” (Transfer from PC to mobile via PC Suite or directly). That’s it!!! Now you can enjoy all the dictionaries by launching MSDict viewer from phone’s menu. Besides, you can also download more dictionary .pdb files from 4shareed.com or elsewhere and place them in the above folder.
Unfortunately, the above pdb files are incompatible with MSDict viewer 7 and if you place them in “E:/System/Data/MSDictV2..Dicts” folder (the location of pdb files in case of MSDict viewer version 7), the MSDict viewer app will not launch at all, so you will have to download dictionaries for it from Mobisystem’s official site (see the update at the end of the post).
Please report if any link is not working.

Update (15.4.2011): I have added version 5.1 (signed) in the above list. This version is perfectly compatible with all S60v5 and Symbian^3 phones. All the 4.1 compatible pdb files also works well with 5.1 so please use it instead of v7 (as I can provide reg codes for all dicts of version 5). All the dicts are 7-days trial version.

NOTE: Please donate US $10 (or equivalent) via Paypal (Click the Paypal button present in the sidebar or bottom left in the footer) towards the cost of running this blog and then leave a comment providing your mail ID and phone’s IMEI. I will send you reg codes for the above dictionaries (contained in the folder) for the IMEI you provide. Because of a huge number of reg code requests please give me at least one week time to send you reg keys for your IMEI and . Please be patient…
