Finally, Yahoo has decided to shut down MyBlogLog (instead of Delicious, as were the rumors in the blogosphere). Today when I logged-in to MyBlogLog account, it showed the “Important Notice” at the dashboard saying:
“MyBlogLog will no longer be in service from 24 May 2011. We recommend Yahoo! Pulse (pulse.yahoo.com) as a service for you to see all your social updates from your favorite networks in one place……”
So cruel Yahoo!!
Along with Blogcatalog, MyBlogLog has been one of the most popular blogging directories right from the early days of blogging boom. It provided a platform for bloggers to promote their blog by making a blog’s “community”. It was like a social networking platform to interact with other bloggers by joining their “communities” and by sending messages to other members. MyBlogLog also provided a customizable blog community widget to show off their members.
Another useful service provided by MyBlogLog was that of “Blog statistics” – a visitors tracking service giving detailed stats about visitors including offsite clicks on Adsense and other ads. It was also one of the few sites that gave a solid backlink to blogs. Alas! I am going to lose one of the backlink to my blog. We will miss you MyBlogLog….thanks for being a great service….
