(How to) Delete/Edit/Add an Access point (Packet data/Wi-Fi) in Symbian^3 phones

In Symbian^3 phones (Nokia N8, C7, E7 etc) Access points (Packet data and WLAN) settings are a bit different (and ridiculously placed) than the older phones. There are many situations when you have to access these AP settings for example – if you have changed the WEP key (security password) of your Wi-Fi Modem (Router) then you will have to change the key in phone as well or to delete or add an access point manually etc. Here is how you can access these settings –

In Symbian^3 phones all the available “Access Points” (for Packet data and Wi-Fi) and their settings can be found at
“Menu-Settings-Connectivity-Settings-Destinations” so

1. To change the Settings/WEP key of an already present WLAN access point – go to
Menu-Settings-Connectivity-Settings-Destinations-Internet” and select (just press once and DO NOT “Long press/press and hold”) the WLAN connection you want to change. A menu will open showing the settings for it. To change the key select “WLAN security settingsWEP key settingsWEP key”, now enter the new key and press OK. Exit the menu and you are done.

2. You can also Delete/Edit an existing Access Point or add a new one by going to the same location described in step 1 above.
However before making any changes to the existing Access point make sure that it is not in use (disconnect via connection manager if the Access point is in use).

I get “System Error” when trying to open Menu-Settings-Connectivity-Settings-Destinations-Internet

I have factory reset my phone.

I have tried to save my data settings (through sms through my operator) but it doesn’t appear to be working.

Any help on this would be appreciated.
