UPDATE (15th Sept. 2011) – A new very simple and fully working Symbian hacking method is now available for all S60 versions. Please refer to this post for the tutorial (no flashing, custom firmware, certificate or key required).
The following method also remains valid however but it is a bit complicated and risky.
After the change (on 23rd June 2011) in Dev certificate policies by Symbian Signed, you cannot easily get a device specific 17-capability certificate required to sign unsigned sis/sisx files (hacking and other files) for installation. Now the only method to hack Symbian (3rd, 5th and Symbian^3) phones remains to be a tricky one – flashing the phone with a hacked firmware. In this post I will describe this method in detail (all credit goes to Marco Bellino aka il.Socio), just follow the steps given below –
1. Download this file from here and extract the content (three .ldd files) out of the archive
2. Download Nokia Cooker from here (for Windows)
3. Download Navifirm from here (for Windows)
4. Download your original Firmware Files – Run Navifirm (internet connection required) and wait for it to load “Product list”. Search for your phone in the list and select it (For example Nokia N8, RM-596). Wait for the Navifirm to load “Releases (Software version)” in the next adjacent pane.
5. Select the latest release and wait for Navifirm to load “Variants (Product codes)”. Search and select your phones product code and wait for Navifirm to load files in the last pane. Select all the files and download them to your computer. Depending upon your phone model and internet connection speed, download may take several minutes to hours.
6. After downloading completes, run Nokia Cooker and go to FileOpen or “Open Firmware” option”, locate and open the “.uda.fpsx” firmware file (one of the files you have downloaded in step 4 above).
7. In the opened file, navigate to the “bin” folder (path – sysbin), all files in the bin folder will be shown in the adjacent pane. Now “drag and drop” (no copy/paste sorry!) the 3 .idd patch files (Step 1 above) inside the “bin” folder (in the files list at right hand side pane). After all the three files have been copied, select “Save Firmware”. Wait for a while as rebuilding process will take some time.
8. Flashing phone using Phoenix – Now follow the instructions given in this tutorial post to flash your phone with the above firmware files (including the hacked uda). Alternatively you may also use J.A.F. instead of Phoenix to flash the phone with the hacked firmware (Refer to this post).
9. After flashing is complete, download “ROM Patcher+” (signed) from here and install it in the phone.
10. Now run the just installed ROM Patcher+ from menu and go to “Options/All Patches/Apply”. Exit the app and done! The phone is fully hacked now! Enjoy installing any unsigned app plus full system access (read/write in sys/private folders) via any file manager (like X-plore).
NOTE – This method works equally well in all Symbian^3 and older S60 5th and 3rd edition phones. As you are flashing with original firmware files, there is nothing to worry about the process.
Do leave a comment for any help and your experience.

September 1, 2011 at 11:43 PM
i’ve done everything till number 10 (so far so good) but when i open ROM Patcher+ , sysbinpatcher*.ldd not found… what do i have to do?
September 2, 2011 at 1:19 AM
i’m very grateful for this guide.
when we download the firmware, how can we check integrity of downloaded files? i would be worried about flashing something that might have arrived corrupt for some reason. is there any checking anywhere in the process? i hope so. otherwise, all is great, i’m just waiting now to flash. i’ll use phoenix, which i’ve used before just fine.
September 3, 2011 at 10:44 AM
Definitely there are a few methods available to check integrity of Rofs files and UDA files. Also Phoenix will also give error if any file is corrupted. I will write a post on this topic soon. Thanks for the suggestion anyway…..BTW it won’t hurt anyone if you come out of your anonymity…..-)

Dear sometimes Navifirm gives communication error as you encountered but it is a temporary one. Keep trying for some time….
September 4, 2011 at 9:55 AM
I read all post, including “As you are flashing with original firmware files, there is nothing to worry about the process.” But exist some risk for my phone?
September 4, 2011 at 9:55 PM
Flashing is a safe procedure until you do it exactly as described…..so do not worry and carefully follow the steps given in the post
September 4, 2011 at 9:08 PM

September 4, 2011 at 9:46 PM
Phone’s product code is usually given at the white sticker under the battery so remove your battery and check on the sticker. Or you can check also by pressing *#0000# at the standby screen.

September 8, 2011 at 8:30 PM
why there’s no release 22.014 on the navifirm for n8?
September 9, 2011 at 3:04 PM
Release 22.014 is there in Navifirm. May be its not still made available for your product code…Is your phone on contract with an operator….this may be the reason for this….
September 10, 2011 at 1:01 AM

September 10, 2011 at 8:53 AM

plz answear me fast coz i will not do any thing untill i have ur answear and thanks alot
September 10, 2011 at 1:03 PM
Sir this tutorial works great…
thnx thnx thnx for ur post
i’ve become a big big fan of ths site…………
September 10, 2011 at 5:25 PM
Satti
Bro, “RM-596_014.002_U08.01_79.92_prd.uda_BACKUP_.fpsx” is just a backup file of ur original downloaded file. So move it to some other safer place. Only keep “RM-596_014.002_U08.01_79.92_prd.uda.fpsx” in ur “RM-xxx” folder. Thats all if u have any prob.. Just feel free to ask..
September 10, 2011 at 7:42 PM
but the file that we hacked with nokia cooker …where is it
i mean in flashing after i delete the memory content file ..should i add any file or just start the flashing??
and thanks for helping by the way
September 11, 2011 at 12:38 AM
after deleting Memory card content file, double click the original uda file and replace it with the hacked one (that you had created earlier)….
September 11, 2011 at 12:41 AM
Nokia Cooker creates a backup file of the original one, keep it safe somewhere else for any future use. Thanks Rahil for the suggestion….

Does this method improves performance of mobiles ?
September 12, 2011 at 7:15 PM
Hello i just use it with Nokia N81 on its Newst version i download the OFW and find the file “.uda.fpsx” but when i opened it, It only contains “Private Folder” and inside it i never find sys/bin … but then i go to other file called “RM223_24.0.002_prd_2101.V21″ which is acceptable by Nokia Cooker as Firmware (it is also inside the OFW) and i found out there the sys/bin and installed the 3 files that is mention above when i finish flashing N81 which is “S60 3rd Edition FP1 (Symbian OS v9.2)” it says flashing done and when i open the phone it didnt turn on .. when i flash it again using the OFW without adding the 3 files it go back to normal …
so my question is it really possible to run the hacks on Nokia N81? coz i didnt find sys/bin inside the “.uda.fpsx”
Thanks in advance … cheers
September 12, 2011 at 11:20 PM
It looks like that Nokia Cooker is not reading the uda file properly. Its really unfortunate. However do not try to modify any other file, as flashing with a corrupted or wrongly modded file may irreversibly damage your phone….I will update solution to this problem soon….thanks for the comment anyway
September 12, 2011 at 11:43 PM
its work for N85 ?
September 14, 2011 at 12:10 PM
Definitely….
September 13, 2011 at 9:44 AM

I will always visit this site
Cheers

1 thing i want to ask..i always cook my firmware with installserver.exe wats r these .iid files for??
September 14, 2011 at 11:59 AM
Hacked Installserver does not work with every phone. .ldd files help ROM Patcher to hack the phone with various patches and these works almost universally well in all Symbian versions. Thanks for the comment buddy….
September 13, 2011 at 5:57 PM

Sir, my phone is not in the list of navifirm :- C5-00 RM-745. Pls help . .
September 14, 2011 at 11:52 AM
I have checked myself RM-745 is there in Navifirm….so try this – Run navifirm and click “Clear Local Cache” tab, wait for a while as Navifirm loads the products again….and see if RM-745 appears….gud luck
September 14, 2011 at 1:31 PM
I have another problems..
There is only C5-02 RM-745 in Navifirm. What I need is C5-00 RM-745.
My version is 071.003 (which is officially latest),but,in Navifirm the latest is 73.1 – Which to select ?
Also there are two 059F0N3s in the variants list..
Help me..
September 14, 2011 at 11:13 PM
Select 071.003 and select any of the two variants (it does not matter much)…
September 15, 2011 at 12:17 AM
Thanks for the reply doc (I hope you dont mind if I call you by that name)
Do we really need memory card for flashing ? Do we have to use that memory card permanently ? Does flashing improve perfomance of phone ?

what to do? help me sir
September 20, 2011 at 12:52 AM
Install ROM Patcher+ Lite version, it is signed and will not give certificate errors. However if it gives error somehow then search for older versions of ROM Patcher (3.0 or 2.6) and try installing them. Let me know if this solves the issue..

guys…i use windows7 on my pc…i downloaded the cfw with navifirm..but then i tried to copy it to the nokia\products\phoenix it doesnt exists…do i have to create the directory …or is this work only in winXP..HELP ME GUYS..
November 25, 2011 at 9:24 AM
Dileep, you can download the files through navifirm to any of your folders even to desktop also. the path c:programfiles/nokia/products/phoenix/RM-xxx will appear only after you install phoenix. after changes made to the files by nokia cooker you must copy all files except backup file to the above specified folder. you may need to create a folder “RX-xxx” manually where xxx is type of your device.

hi Dude, wonderful post and it works well for my c5-00. thank you very much for the useful post. however I’ve some doubts and some of my problems have not been cleared yet.
1. my current firm ware version is 71.003 and the latest updated version is 71.005, as per official site of nokia. In “Navifirm plus” the latest version is 81.3 (for RM-745). what will happen if i use 81.3 instead of 71.3?
2. i’m unable to remove some pre-installed apps from my device even after i used your method. to be precisely I’d like to use another pdf reader instead of “adobe reader LE” (which is pre-installed in my device) so that i can rotate the view to get a comfortable reading. i installed pdf+ but when i tried to open pdf files through this application, adobe reader LE opened instead of pdf+. can you suggest any awesome idea to overcome this problem?
thanks again, sami
January 14, 2012 at 2:37 AM
Good guide indeed, but it has a problem. Shure you didn’t mean “.core.fpsx” instead of “.uda.fpsx”? The one that has the bin folder is the “core.fpsx”. I have to mention this is about an N78. And another thing. After I click “save”, I get the message “Preliminary check failed: can’t repack fw because the repacked size exeeds the partitio size, please remove 4,75 kb”, What’s that about?
January 14, 2012 at 2:43 AM
Last phrase fixed! The message disappeared after clicking the last button “Extend ROFS1″.

February 13, 2012 at 9:11 PM
Hi NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE
Here are my current mobile Details,
Symbian Belle
Soft ver:111.030.0609
Prod Code:059B7C0
Model-C7-00
Type: RM-675
I have tried to hack with all the methods available on net even flashing but still getting certificate error even when i flashed with hacked UDA tutorial from other site, after detailed internal study revealed that my C:\sys folder does not contain bin folder or installserver.exe, now i have got install server but due to certificate error i am not able to use any explorer,
Please advise on this
is there any way any explorer that can help me place that so i can work with Rom patcher already installed with all .ldd files on new hacked uda?
Please advise AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
