Merriam-Webster dictionaries are considered as one of the most comprehensive and authoritative reference the world over (especially Americas). Paragon soft’s Merriam Webster English dictionaries (as a mobile app) are also very popular among Symbian users. In fact it is one of the very few dictionary apps still available for Symbian OS (along with MSDict’s Oxford and Cambridge Advanced Learner dictionaries).
Here I am presenting following four Merriam-Webster English dictionaries (11th edition) for my Symbian readers –
1. Merriam Webster’s English Unabridged dictionary – Over 250000 entries with detailed explanations (etymology, uses etc)
2. M-W Collegiate dictionary – Over 75000 words with explanation
3. M-W Medical dictionary – around 40000 medical terminology
4. M-W English dictionary – Over 30000 entries
Download from here and extract the archive. There are six .sis files (all signed) in the archive, install all of them one by one. There is also a text file in the archive containing serial keys for dictionaries. After installation launch the M-W app and use these keys to register respective dictionaries. I have tested these dicts in Nokia N8 and C7 (Symbian^3 phones) and they run perfectly well. However they should also work fine in S60 3rd and 5th ed (touchscreen) phones.
