Update - The hacking method described in this post also works perfectly well in all older Symbian^3/Anna phones updated with Nokia Belle Refresh firmware
With the official release of Belle update for all Symbian^3 (and Anna) phones yesterday, most of you will get your phones updated sooner or later (many have done it already). Now the bad news is that the update will un-hack a hacked phone and all old installed (unsigned) apps will be gone. So sad, but one has to lose something to get something better, as the old saying goes! However, do not worry, just follow the simple steps given below to hack any Nokia Belle phone (N8, C7, E7, E6, C6-01, X7, Nokia 500, 700, 701, 603) within minutes –
Download Norton AV app from here and install in phone, ignore the warnings and continue with installation
Launch Norton app via Menu and go to “Options/Anti Virus/Quarantine list”
There will be three files in Quarantine, restore all of these, one by one via “Options/Restore” (confirm the action)
When successfully restored, exit Norton app and uninstall it, also go to File Manager and see if there is a folder named “Shared” in C:/ (Phone memory), if it is present, delete the entire folder. Also uninstall anything named “Norton…..” and “Symantec….” via Application Manager (Settings/Installations/Already Installed). Restart the phone
Now download Symbian_installserver_Hack_by_digipassion from here and install in phone memory (C: drive) – ignore “Application not trusted” and “Not Compatible with phone” warnings and continue with installation
Now launch the newly installed ROM Patcher+ from menu, select and apply the installserver RP+ v1.7 patch via options (which will enable installation of unsigned apps without any cert error). You can also enable the “open4all” patch to access system folders via X-plore
Done! Now you can fully enjoy your Nokia Belle phone!
You can also use the Trend Micro app (refer to this post) in place of Norton app in the above method (rest of the process will remain the same). All such methods have essentially the same mechanism of action – that is to place 3 .ldd files in a specific location – C:/sys/bin to be precise. Rest of the process is handled by ROM Patcher.
I have successfully tested Norton method to hack my Nokia N8 and C7 (updated to Belle). And by the way these methods are not Anna or Belle specific only, you can also hack any older Symbian S60v3 and S60v5 phone using above methods.
Update - You may refer to this post for Belle FP1 hack and this post for Belle FP2 hack.
