(HOW TO) KNOW YOUR OWN MOBILE NUMBER (FOR A NEW SIM OR FOR WHATEVER REASON) – INDIAN NETWORK OPERATORS ONLY

There are many scenarios when you do not know your (or someone else) mobile number but it is needed for obvious reasons – for example if the SIM has zero balance (for calling or texting) and is new and you don’t have the info-booklet or the SIM belongs to someone else etc. How helpless one feels in such conditions. Well, here are some possible solutions to make your life easier. Following are some network service codes (commands) to know mobile SIM number (Indian operators only) –

1. TATA DOCOMO – Press *580# at standby screen and dial it. Wait until mobile number is displayed at screen. This DOCOMO code works in all telecom circles of India.

2. Reliance GSM (Smart) – Dial *1# and wait, mobile number will flash after a while. Works all over India (I don’t know whether it works for Reliance CDMA as well).

3. Vodafone (India) – dial *111# and wait until “Choose language” option appears – Reply/Answer by selecting the desired language – after a while another menu will appear having many options – select and reply with “Balance inquiry/Account balance” option – wait until message showing “Account balance for number …..” appears – this info will show the SIM number as well (along with the balance)
