We all know that apps are directly installed in the phone from Android Market (now known as Google Play) without leaving any trace of installation file (.apk). There are several methods to get .apk files from the Market and the newest of these being a Chrome extension. Yes, you read that right, now you can also download/extract apk files from Android Market (for offline storage in PC) via a Google Chrome extension. It is called “APK Downloader” and as the name signifies; APK Downloader will extract any APK from Market even if the app is not compatible with your phone. This will be helpful if you want to try an app that is not compatible with your device. This is against the ToS of Market however, so try at your own risk.
Ready to experiment? then fire up Google Chrome at your PC (v17 or later)
Install APK Downloader from here
Tweak some settings (described at developers site) and start downloading your favorite app/game APKs (for offline storage, to try on different devices or for whatever reason). For any help and how to use APK Downloader you may refer to developer’s site.
