Recently Opera updated Blackberry and Java versions of their celebrated Opera Mini mobile web browser. New version Opera Mini 7.1 comes with a download manager just like the native Symbian and Android versions. So now Java feature phone users can also download any file via Opera Mini. According to the official description “with the new version you can now -
Enjoy faster downloads
Pause/resume downloads
Save files in any folder
Download multiple files together
View progress bar
A more polished and responsive UI
One new feature I noticed in the download manager of this version is that file’s name can be edited before saving it. This renaming is I think the first ever in Opera Mini.
You can download new Opera Mini 7.1 for Java/Symbian/Blackberry by accessing m.opera.com via mobile or from opera.com/mobile
One suggestion though – better choose and install a signed version (according to your phone) for a smooth downloading experience. As there are many issues with an unsigned MIDlet (Java app) like “downloading failed” due to the phone denying write permission to app.
