Modded WhatsApp v2.96 for Symbian (with autostart disabled and option to install in E/F drive)

As you know WhatsApp is a wonderful cross platform messenger app for mobiles. Symbian version of WhatsApp is also available and is one of the most popular apps in Nokia Store. Besides all the goodies there are some features of WhatsApp which many of us (including me) do not like at all. For example

It runs in the background even when you exit from the app (I have already described solution to this problem in this post).

It autostarts every time phone reboots and there is no option in its setting to turn this feature off

It is programmed to automatically install in C drive (occupies 8 MB phone memory, which is too scarce in Symbian phones, especially the older ones)

So if you are also searching for a solution to these problems then this post is for you. Fortunately a modded version of WhatsApp is available (created by dailymobile forum devs) which solves the last two issues. Give it a try – download WhatsApp modded version 2.96 from here and install in your phone – during installation uncheck “autostart” under “Install optional files” popup and select the memory as E or F as per your choice (rather than C). If you already have WhatsApp installed then it will be replaced by the modded one but you will lose all your history and chats.

Note – This modded version of WhatsApp is compatible with all S60v5 and Symbian^3/Belle/Belle Refresh/FP1/FP2 phones.
