Smartphones and tablets have dominated the consumer electronics markets around the world and this fact was proved at the annual IFA electronics show in Berlin too. Almost all major (and many minor) mobile brands flexed their muscle by unveiling new products to grab the limelight. Samsung, Sony, LG, Nokia/Microsoft, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, Archos, Alcatel and Panasonic were some of the better known brands which showcased their upcoming smartphones, phablets and tablets at IFA expo 2013. Here is a quick overview of talk-of-the-town devices showed off this year –
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – Note 3 was definitely the most anticipated Android device announced at IFA. Right from the legendary Note 1, the Note series has been Samsung’s ultra-premium Android phablet offering packed with best in class hardware and software features. Continuing with this tradition Samsung introduced many firsts for Android smartphones in Note 3, for example 3GB RAM, Micro USB v3.0 (MHL 2), Android v4.3 and 13MP camera capable of 4K video recording. Other specs are impressive too – Snapdragon 800 chipset (quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU or Octa-core Cortex CPU), 1080p, 5.7 inches super AMOLED screen, new S-Pen etc.
Sony Xperia Z1 (Honami) – Sony re-engineered their older flagship Xperia Z into another gem of an Android smartphone – Xperia Z1. Have a look at its specs –
A great 20.7 MP camera, 5 inches 1080p shatter proof Triluminos display, IP58 certified (water resistant and dust proof), quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU/Adreno 330 GPU, 3000 mAh battery, USB On-the-go etc
Acer Liquid S2 – Acer surprised IFA 2013 with this amazing Android phablet – the mighty Liquid S2. It boasts of some of the most advanced specs and features which match many big brand’s upcoming flagships. Have a look yourself –
Quad-core, 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU (Snapdragon 800 chipset), 2GB RAM Adreno 330 GPU, 6 inches 1080p TFT display, microSD upto 128 GB support, 13 MP camera capable of recording 4K UltraHD (3840 x 2160) resolution video, 4 LED flashes, 3300mAh battery
Panasonic 4K Toughpad – It is one hell of a gadget (kinda huge “tablet”) by Panasonic which impressed me very much. From outside Toughpad looks like just another 20 inches touchscreen panel but believe me it’s an amazing all-in-one device with mouth-watering features –
20 inches, 4K UltraHD (3840 x 2560 pixels) resolution IPS screen, upto 10-finger multi-touch support, Windows 8.1, Intel Core i5 CPU, 4/8 GB RAM 128/256 GB SSD memory. But unfortunately the price is too high for an average buyer – US$ 6000
So, what’s your pick from IFA 2013?
