Mobile World Congress is one hell of an annual event related to mobile-technology which traditionally sets the trend for rest of the year and gives fair indications of the things to come. This year, however, MWC (25th – 28th Feb.) had no surprises and big bangs. Everything was quite predictable as all major players announced their star devices before the event. Still it was a showcase of some existing (just announced) and upcoming smartphones that will rule the market soon. Here is an overview of all the highlights of MWC 2013 –
The flagship galore
LG Optimus G Pro – it led the LG’s squad of several Android smartphones at MWC. A successor of highly successful LG Optimus G, Optimus G Pro completely justifies the “Pro” tag with all the specs needed to be a flagship. Specs – 1.7 GHz quad-core Krait CPU, 2GB RAM, 5.5 inches, 1080p, true HD-IPS+ LCD screen, 13Megapixels camera, Android JellyBean, 3140mAh Li-Po battery
HTC One – The much hyped HTC flagship was also showcased at MWC which is currently one of the hottest and talked-about phones along with Galaxy S4. Specs wise – 1.7GHz, Quad-core Krait CPU, 4.7 inches, 1080p LCD3 display, HTC Sense UI v5, Android JellyBean, 32/64GB memory, 2GB RAM, 4Megapixels camera (ultrapixel technology) with OIS and large sensor size.
Sony Xperia Z and ZL – Xperia Z and ZL are Sony’s latest Android flagships showcased at MWC. Both phablets sport impressive specs – 1.5GHz quad-core Krait CPU, 2GB RAM, 5 inches 1080p screen, 13Megapixels camera
BlackBerry Z10 – Although released in January, BlackBerry Z10 was also in limelight at MWC. It is the current flagship of Blackberry sporting BB10 OS and relatively outdated specs – 1.5 GHz, dual-core Krait CPU, 2GB RAM, 4.2 inches, 768×1280 pixels screen, 8MP camera
Micromax A116 Canvas HD – perhaps the cheapest quad-core 1.2GHz, 5inches 720p screen, 1GB RAM, Android JellyBean smartphone in the market currently. It was sold out within half an hour of being available at an online store in India.
ZTE Grand S – 1.7GHz quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 5 inches 1080p display, 13MP camera
Huawei Ascend P2 – 1.5 GHz quad-core Krait CPU, 1GB RAM, 4.7 inches 720p screen, 13MP camera
Xiaomi MI-2 – 1.5 GHz quad-core Krait CPU, 2GB RAM, 4.3 inches 720p screen
Fujitsu Arrows X F-02E – 1.7GHz quad-core Tegra3 CPU, 2GB RAM, 5 inches 1080p IPS display, 16.3 Megapixels camera, Android JellyBean etc
Alcatel One Touch Idol X – 1.7GHz quad-core CPU, 5 inches 1080p display, 13MP camera
