Cheer up guys, it’s confirmed this time – Nokia Belle is officially out now! 8th Feb 2012, the tentative date of Nokia Belle roll-out, turned out to be real and lucky for older Symbian^3 phone owners as Nokia finally made Belle available worldwide. Unlike Anna release, Belle is rolled out with much preparation. Nokia simultaneously released Belle in most parts of the world and for all the older Symbian^3 and Anna devices (Nokia N8, C7, E7, C6-01, Oro and X7). This is confirmed at Nokia Conversations blog today with the headline screaming – “Nokia Belle downloads start today”. All Nokia sites have been updated with the news of Belle availability worldwide.
I have checked Navifirm and the same Belle firmware (v111.30.609 – that was lurking at Navifirm since months without any files) is now available for all Symbian^3 phones (excluding Nokia 500) for almost all the product codes and regions. Nokia Belle (earlier known as Symbian Belle) is a whole new experience for Symbian users with hundreds of new and improved features. Better web browser, easier navigation, 6 home screens, faster speeds are some of the salient features of Belle. So be prepared to go all out with it.
How to update to Nokia Belle?
If you have any of the older Symbian^3 phone (having any firmware version – Anna or older) then you can update it to Nokia Belle via latest Nokia Suite (v3.3.86). Connect your phone to PC (in Ovi Suite mode) via data cable and launch Nokia Suite. Wait for some time as Nokia Suite detects the phone. When it is shown as connected, go to “Tools/Software updates” (or click the SW Update icon). Wait for a while as Nokia Suite checks for available updates. When Belle appears as update click update button and wait for the process to complete. Enjoy…
NSU (Nokia Software Updater) can also be used to update your phone with Belle.
1. Belle is not available via OTA (Over The Air) still
2. If Nokia Suite does not show any update for your phone then wait for some time and try again as Belle might not be released for your product code/country still. Carrier/contract bound users will have to wait a bit longer for their update.
3. Also note that Belle is a large update (over 200MB) so it is recommended to update via PC using fast internet connection. Also backup your phone data before updating as it may be lost during the process. DO NOT panic if something goes wrong as you always have the option of flashing the phone with original firmware files using Phoenix.
4. Official Nokia Belle can also be installed in phones which already have any leaked Belle firmware – use the same Nokia Suite method described above. If Nokia Suite shows Belle as installed, use the “Reinstall” option (that is available at the update window of Nokia Suite) to update.
