Yesterday Nokia rolled out a minor update package for Symbian Anna called “Symbian Anna Service Pack”. The details of this package says –
“This important update package brings better performance and usability to your smartphone. Scroll through messages easier, get quicker location info when taking photos, plus more.”
This update is available for all new and old Symbian^3 phones having Symbian Anna (either built-in or updated to) – Nokia 500, N8, C7, E7, C6-01 etc. It seems to me that this “Anna service pack” contains mainly bug-fixes and under-the-hood (hidden) improvements, rather than any visible or noticeable change. After updating my N8 yesterday, I did not notice any major difference in the device functionality.
How to update? – If you have Symbian Anna in your phone then go to Menu/Applications/SW update. The “Software update” app will check any available update for your phone (WiFi/GPRS/3G connection required) – wait for a while until it shows “Symbian Anna Service pack” (just over 1MB) as the optional update. Now go to “Options/Install updates” – wait for the download and install process to complete. After the process completes, phone will restart and you will only get the satisfaction of having a “hidden update”.
